Presented here is a very rare vintage Rolex King Midas reference 4316 in full white gold. The watch is powered by a manual-winding Rolex movement and represents one of the most unconventional designs ever created by Rolex.
The King Midas line was first introduced in the early 1960s. Inspired by Greek mythology and architecture, the watch was designed to reflect the legend of King Midas, where everything touched turned to gold. The case and bracelet were crafted from solid gold, making it at the time one of the heaviest and most exclusive watches Rolex had ever produced. Often attributed to the influence of Gérald Genta, the design stands out with its integrated bracelet and architectural form.
The 4209XXX serial number dates the watch back to 1976. This example is crafted in solid white gold and features a onyx dial, surrounded by diamonds. The watch is fitted with its original integrated bracelet, which is characteristic of the King Midas design.
