Rolex
Presented here is a Rolex Datejust reference 1601. The watch is powered by the Rolex calibre 1570.
The reference 1601 was produced from approximately the late 1950s until the late 1970s. It features a 36 mm stainless steel case with an 18k white gold fluted bezel and is fitted with an acrylic crystal.
The 3355XXX serial number dates the watch back to 1973. It features a beautiful grey Sigma dial with well preserved lume plots and comes on the classic Jubilee bracelet. The most special detail of this example is definitely the white gold bezel. Over the years, the bezel has developed a warm yellow patina, making it appear almost like yellow gold and giving the watch a very unique character.
Why we love it:
The patina on the white gold bezel is definitely what makes this Datejust so special to us. Its warm yellow tone creates a beautiful contrast with the grey Sigma dial and almost makes the watch look like a two tone Datejust. It is a very unique example where the natural ageing has created something you simply cannot find on a new watch.
