Date 14K 'Milanese'
Rolex
Presented here is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date reference 1500 in 14k yellow gold.
The reference 1500 is one of the classic vintage Rolex Date models and features a 34 mm case with an acrylic crystal. This particular example is crafted from 14k yellow gold and is fitted with a 14k yellow gold Milanese bracelet.
The 5726XXX serial number dates the watch back to 1978. It features a beautiful white dial with Roman numerals and comes with its original Rolex box and papers. The original papers are from Rolex retailer Jamieson & Carry in Aberdeen, Scotland, confirming the British-market provenance of the watch.
During this period, Rolex worked with local goldsmiths and suppliers for certain markets, including David Shackman & Sons (DS&S) in the United Kingdom. The Milanese bracelet features a Rolex coronet on the clasp and is consistent in style and construction with period gold mesh bracelets. However, as no maker’s hallmark is visible on the clasp, the specific manufacturer of the bracelet cannot be confirmed.
Why we love it:
This watch simply looks incredibly beautiful on the wrist. The 14k gold Milanese bracelet is definitely the highlight for us and gives the watch a completely different character compared to a traditional Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. Combined with the white Roman dial and warm 14k yellow gold case, the watch is extremely elegant and unique. The documented Aberdeen provenance and original box and papers make this a particularly special example of the reference 1500.
