Daytona 'Zenith'
Daytona 'Zenith'
Rolex
Presented here is a Rolex Daytona Zenith reference 16520 from 1997. The watch is powered by the famous El Primero based Zenith caliber 4030. This was Rolex's first self-winding chronograph movement. The reference 16520 was produced from approximately 1988 until 2000. It was succeeded by reference 116520, which introduced Rolex’s in-house calibre 4130. The watch features a 40 mm stainless steel case and is fitted with a sapphire crystal.
In our view, the Zenith Daytona offers a more balanced and attractive design than the 116520. Not only is it more collectible, but the dial also stands out with its slimmer and longer hour markers, giving it a particularly elegant appearance.
The U927XXX serial number dates the watch back to 1997. It is fitted with an Oyster bracelet featuring polished centre links.
Why we love it:
The Daytona is one of our favorite models from Rolex. As the famous Zenith Daytona, it offers a unique character that later references do not have. Its clean dial layout, slim hour markers, and timeless proportions make it one of the most attractive Daytona references in our view. Compared with the prices of newer Daytona references, the 16520 also remains a very attractive choice.
